Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and fearsome transformations echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden sect.
The questline centers on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
