Thousands Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, producing wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners observed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing - multiple emergency calls
- Wyndham - 179 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
Medical Alert
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
